What is an encore presentation?
An encore presentation provides an opportunity for an author of a recently-presented work at an ACM SIGCSE-sponsored conference to present their work at CCSCNE. These could include papers, panels, tutorials, workshops, and lightning talks (including a nifty assignment that could be presented as a lightning talk). This is intended to provide presenters with an opportunity to show their work in our smaller, more intimate environment, and to provide attendees, many of whom are unable to attend the larger or more distant conferences regularly, a chance to see some of the work presented there recently. It is also much easier for presenters and attendees to make connections and have discussions in our smaller environment.
Please note that these encore presentations will be listed in the CCSCNE program, but will not be (re-)published in the Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges, nor will they gain a new entry in the ACM Digital Library.
As these presentations focus on already-published work, there is no blind review process. However, as a limited number of encore presentation proposals can be accommodated in our program, a committee will prioritize the submissions. At least one author of an encore presentation must register for the conference.
What should an encore presentation proposal contain?
Encore presentation proposals should include the following:
- A title and list of authors with affiliations and contact information
- The venue (e.g., SIGCSE 2015, CCSC Eastern 2014) at which the work was previously presented
- A link to the published paper, abstract, etc.
- Your preferences/requirements for a presentation format: e.g., a 25-minute standard talk, a 10-minute “lightning talk”, a 90-minute panel, workshop, or tutorial, a longer workshop up to 3 hours, or a poster.
Encores at CCSCNE 2022
For CCSCNE 2022, accepted Encore presentations can be a 10-minute “lightning talk” or 25-minute regular presentation slot in one of the main conference sessions, a poster, or a special session such as a panel, workshop, or tutorial. Please specify your preference/requirements in your proposal. The committee will do our best to accommodate as many Encores as possible into our program.
