What is a lightning talk?

Lightning Talks are short 10 minute presentations. Lightning Talks are expected to explore tentative or preliminary work or ideas for possible work. They provide an opportunity to start discussion, showcase a technique that hasn’t been fully tested, find collaborators, or receive input and critique on a new idea.   These can include work in progress, new and untested ideas, class projects, opportunities for collaborative work, a description of a pedagogical tool, class activity, or courseware that supports learning in computer science.

These short talks will be presented in a single session. Each presenter will have 10 minutes to present their talk.

To be considered for this track, please submit an abstract of your talk, not to exceed a length of ONE single spaced page

What should a lighting talk abstract contain?

Lightning Talk abstracts must include (limited to ONE single spaced page):

  • A descriptive title
  • Name, position affiliation, email and U.S. mail address for the contact person for the Lightning Talk
  • A detailed description of the Lightning Talk
  • Short biography of the Lightning Talk presenters
  • A description of supporting materials such as handouts or links to online resources

Lightning Talk proposals will undergo peer review.

How do I format a lighting talk abstract?

Your submission must follow the formatting requirements specified by CCSC, which may be found in the CCSC Manuscript Formatting Guidelines. You will have limited time between poster acceptance notification and final copy submission. Therefore, we recommend that you format your initial submissions according to this format to save yourself time later.

What do I include in the final manuscript submission?

The following items need to be in your final manuscript submission:

  • final manuscript (paper or abstracts), which should include all Latex source files (.tex, .bib, and image files) or the Word doc (with image files) and the generated PDF files.
  • copyright release form (see Copyright Release Form section of  https://lubaochuan.github.io/ccsc-editor/authors.html)

Submit your lightning talk abstract using EasyChair.
