What is a faculty poster?

A poster presentation on work in progress provides an opportunity to receive feedback on the project. A poster on finished work offers a chance for more extensive discussion than a paper presentation affords. We invite both types of posters, which may be on any of the kinds of topics that are also appropriate for a paper.

The poster review process is less formal than paper reviews and focuses on whether the topic is suitable for the conference and whether the abstract has an appropriate level of technical detail. Poster reviewing is not blind, and authors should include names, addresses, phone and fax numbers, email addresses, and a Web URL if there is one. At least one author of an accepted poster must register for the conference.

Abstracts of accepted posters will be published in the Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges, which is included in the ACM Digital Library.

Faculty poster abstracts must not exceed a length of two single spaced pages.

What should a poster abstract contain?

Faculty poster abstract must meet the following guidelines:

  • The topic of the poster must relate to Computer Science Education
  • The poster abstract must clearly describe the nature of the research/project/ investigation
  • The abstract must also clearly indicate the importance of the research/project/investigation, possibly making a brief comparison with other work
  • The abstract must describe any results obtained so far (possibly after using the project ideas in practice) and/or outline a plan for obtaining results

At least one author must present the poster during the poster presentation session. For this reason, multiple poster abstracts from the same author cannot normally be allowed, because co-location of posters by the same author cannot be guaranteed. If two or more abstracts have the same multiple authors, then these abstracts may be considered, subject to the understanding that each poster will be associated with a unique presenter and all these presenters will register for the conference. In these cases, the name of the presenter should be submitted at the time of abstract submission.

Graduate students are allowed to be authors of Faculty Posters.

How do I format a poster abstract?

Your submission must follow the formatting requirements specified by CCSC, which may be found in the CCSC Manuscript Formatting Guidelines. You will have limited time between poster acceptance notification and final copy submission. Therefore, we recommend that you format your initial submissions according to this format to save yourself time later.

What do I include in the final manuscript submission?

The following items need to be in your final manuscript submission:

  • final manuscript (paper or abstracts), which should include all Latex source files (.tex, .bib, and image files) or the Word doc (with image files) and the generated PDF files.
  • copyright release form (see Copyright Release Form section of  https://lubaochuan.github.io/ccsc-editor/authors.html)

Submit your poster abstract using EasyChair.
